THE ROOT PArty paCKAGE

For families who love to bring their own creative touch or are looking for a smaller celebration, our Root Party Package provides the basics so you can create a meaningful custom celebration.

Includes:

  • 2 hours of private use of the entire play space + party room

  • Tables & chairs for up to 10 children ($20 per additional child)

  • Accommodates up to 20 adults ($10 per additional adult)

  • Even with paying for add-ons, we cannot accommodate more than 45 people total in our space (children + adults) - if you have less children, you can add in more adults. But you cannot have more than 20 children and you cannot have more than 45 people total (while 30 guests is most comfortable)

  • 1–2 dedicated party assistants to help with setup, serving, cleanup, and even capturing candid photos

  • Filtered water dispenser

  • Personalized birthday signage on our birthday board

If you are having a smaller celebration with less children + adults, but you’d like to add on the party bundle listed on the bloom package, you can add it all on for $200! Or you can add on individual items at check out.

THE BLOOM party PACKAGE

For families who want a beautiful, coordinated celebration without the extra work.

Includes:

  • Tables & chairs for up to 15 children ($20 per additional child with a MAX of 20 children)

  • Accommodates up to 25 adults ($10 per additional adult)

  • We cannot accommodate more than 45 people total in our space (children + adults) - if you have less children, you can add in more adults. But you cannot have more than 20 children and you cannot have more than 45 people total (while 30 guests is most comfortable)

Plus our party bundle:

  • Simple decorations in your choice of color palette or theme

    • Decor includes 3 themed banners, themed plates and napkins, cutlery, tablecloths for all tables as well as basic plates, napkins and cutlery for adults.

    • All included cutlery is made from fully compostable, eco-friendly materials to keep your celebration beautiful and earth-kind

  • A designated gift table with a wooden gifts/cards sign and table cloth

  • One balloon tower in colors to match your chosen theme

  • Three plain pizzas (one double cut pizza for children and two for adults)

  • Filtered water + cups for adults and Honest Co apple juice boxes for each child

    (Please note: if you do not want the pizza + juice as part of your package, we will refund you $30)

  • Use of our wooden cake stand, wooden serving platters, stacking trays, serving baskets, and serving utensils for any additional food you bring!

THE LITTLE ONE Party package

We’re proud to be a space thoughtfully designed to celebrate first birthdays, one of the most special milestones in your baby’s life. From the cozy size of our play space to the intentionally curated play items for young toddlers, River & Root is perfect for an unforgettable first birthday. Please note: you may choose any of our party packages for a first birthday - this is just an extra special one we offer for first birthdays in particular.

Includes:

  • Tables & chairs for up to 15 children ($20 per additional child with a MAX of 20 children)

The Little *ONE* Party Package includes everything in our Bloom Party Package, plus our special little one bundle:

  • A vintage high chair styled with a custom tassel banner in your choice of colors

  • A hand-embroidered birthday crown with your child’s name and date of birth (sewn into the inside) to wear and take home

  • A personalized Birthday Keepsake Book crafted from sustainably sourced wood, with laser-engraved details and your child’s name — an heirloom designed to be brought out each year, capturing birthday notes, photos, and memories through childhood

  • A Polaroid photo station with film included (up to 50 sheets), so guests can add photos and notes to the guest book during your celebration

  • Use of our Baby’s First Year photo display board — a timeless, custom-crafted wooden piece featuring a photo space for each month of your child’s first year (for event-day use only)

BOOKING FOR PARTIES BEYOND MAY

We’re currently booking birthday parties through May 1st while we determine how to best utilize our outdoor space for summer and fall birthday parties.

If you’re hoping to celebrate with us later in 2026 and want to be sure to hold your spot, you can place a $100 fully refundable hold to secure your preferred date and time in advance. This amount will be applied toward your total once your date opens for booking.

If, once dates are released, any updates to timing or pricing or options don’t work for you, your hold will be refunded in full (minus booking fees)— no commitment required.

We know planning a party comes with lots of little questions, and our goal is to make your celebration as smooth and stress-free as possible. Here a few helpful details and guidelines that will help you plan with confidence — so when the big day arrives, you can focus on celebrating and soaking up the memories.

  • Our space is cozy by design — just the right size for meaningful celebrations and easy conversation. We can welcome up to 45 guests total, including children and adults.

    That said, we’ve found that around 30 guests tends to feel the most comfortable and allows everyone plenty of space to play, relax, and enjoy. The more guests you invite, the busier the space will feel — but we’ll make sure it’s beautiful and ready either way.

    Non-mobile infants (who will be held in carriers or not yet crawling) do not count toward this total, so your tiniest guests are always welcome.

    Please review your chosen party package for specific numbers.

  • Yes! Every River & Root party includes exclusive use of our full play space and flex room. No other families or events will be in the space during your celebration, so it’s truly your time to relax and enjoy.

  • Yes — absolutely! You’re welcome to bring wraps, sandwiches, hoagie trays, snack-style items, fruit and veggie trays, and desserts like cupcakes or cookies, etc.. To help us keep the space tidy and comfortable for all families, we just ask that messy or spill-prone foods (like pasta, rice, quinoa, or saucy dishes) stay home. Sternos or open flames for warming food aren’t permitted, but cold items and room-temperature trays work perfectly.

    Tip: Think “picnic-style” — fresh, simple, and easy to serve!

  • Yes! We absolutely understand that smash cakes are a special and meaningful tradition, especially for first birthdays, and we’re happy to accommodate them with a few important guidelines.

    Smash cakes must be contained to a high chair only. Families are welcome to rent our vintage high chair or bring their own. We ask that the smash cake activity stay within the high chair area and that cleanup happens immediately afterward.

    Before your child re-enters the play space, their hands (and face, if needed) should be wiped down or washed to help us keep the space clean and safe for all little ones.

    We love celebrating these sweet milestones with you and appreciate your help in keeping our space comfortable for everyone enjoying the party.

  • We love seeing how families make the space their own! You’re welcome to bring tabletop décor, freestanding decorations, and items to decorate our open shelving.

    To keep our space looking its best for every family, we just ask that:

    • Nothing is taped, pinned, or hung on the walls beyond the hooks we provide

    • No glitter, confetti, confetti-filled balloons, or pinatas

    If you’d like coordinated decorations without the setup stress, our Bloom Package includes beautiful, themed table settings that match your celebration.

  • At River & Root, we care deeply about creating a beautiful space for your celebration while also being mindful of our environmental impact. Traditional balloons can be harmful to wildlife and the environment, and because of that, we try to limit their use in our space. We never want families to feel bad for wanting balloons — we totally understand how special they can be for little ones — so we’ve worked hard to find a thoughtful alternative.

    As part of our Bloom Party Package and Little One Package, we offer reusable balloon towers in your chosen theme colors. These give you the festive “balloon moment” without any waste, and they fit safely within our cozy space.

    If you are not selecting one of those packages, you’re welcome to bring one small balloon bunch (5–7 balloons max) that matches your theme. This bunch can be attached to your child’s chair or placed at the gift table.

    Because of space limitations and set-up time, we do not allow balloon arches or large balloon installations under any circumstances.

    If balloons are really important to your celebration, just let us know — we’re happy to help you choose the best option for your party! You can also add-on a reusable balloon tower in your choice of colors even if you want to decorate yourself.

    Our space is designed especially for children ages 0–4, with a thoughtful balance of movement, sensory, and pretend play. While we’re a smaller, cozy play space, every inch has been intentionally curated to support development, creativity, and connection.

    Here’s a peek at what you’ll find inside:

    • ⛺️ Campsite Area: Our signature zone featuring a larger-than-life RV play camper for pretend adventures — complete with a mini kitchen, driver’s seat, campfire setup, pretend s’mores, dress-up play, and weather boards.

    • 🌲 Imaginative Play Corner: A tent and grill with pretend play items to “cook” and create outdoor-inspired fun.

    • ⚖️ Movement Zone: A seesaw, tunnel, and a variety of climbing/balance boards to build coordination and confidence through safe, open-ended movement.

    • 🎵 Playground Area: A small indoor play set with a slide, stairs to climb, a tunnel to crawl through, and sensory wall panels.

    • 👶 Infant Area: Designed for babies learning to crawl, pull up, and explore safely. Includes pull-up bars, soft mats, and Montessori-style infant toys that support early milestones.

    • 💡 Light + Build Table: A light table with magna tiles, wooden blocks, and manipulatives for building, stacking, and exploring cause and effect.

    When hosting a birthday party or special event, we can flexibly adapt the play environment — for example, transforming the infant area into additional toddler play space if your celebration is geared toward older toddlers.

    Every area in River & Root was designed with input from pediatric occupational therapists and child development experts to ensure our environment supports the social, physical, and sensory needs of young children.

    We may be a small space — but every detail was created with care, intention, and a deep understanding of how little ones learn and grow.

  • Yes — we’re open to outside entertainment and love working with families to create a celebration that feels special and fun. If you have an idea in mind, please email us at hello@riverandrootnj.com with the details, and we’ll happily take a look together.

    At this time, we’re not able to accommodate face painting or slime-making activities. These materials can be difficult to contain and may transfer to walls, floors, furniture, and play materials in our space. Since our environment is designed for little ones and shared by many families, we aim to keep it as clean and safe as possible for everyone.

    If you’re unsure what might work well, we’re always happy to suggest low-mess, age-appropriate entertainment options that fit beautifully in our space.

  • Yes — we know that birthdays often bring together the whole family, and we warmly welcome older siblings or cousins to join in the celebration. Because our play space is thoughtfully designed for children ages 0–4, we just ask that older children play gently and remain mindful of our littlest guests while they’re in the play area.

    We’ll have cozy seating and open areas where older kids can relax, help celebrate, or enjoy a snack if they prefer not to play.

  • If you’ve chosen our Root Package, you’re welcome to arrive 30 minutes before your party to begin setting up. Our team will have the space clean, ready, and waiting for you.

    For families who’ve chosen the Bloom Package, we’ll take care of setup for you — just show up ready to celebrate! You are welcome to arrive up to 30 minutes early as well to bring extra food or additional decorations, but please know we may not yet be fully set up for you.

  • Yes! We know it can be hard to say goodbye when everyone’s having fun. If you’d like a little more time to celebrate, extra party time is available for $100 per additional hour. You can choose to:

    • Add extra time before your 1:00 PM party, or

    • Add extra time after your 4:30 PM party.

    Please let us know when booking so we can confirm availability and adjust your reservation accordingly

  • A $225 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your party date. If you choose the Reserve Now, Decide Later option, your $225 payment secures your date and will be applied toward your selected package once you finalize your details.

    If you choose to book your full party package upfront, please note that the first $225 of that payment is non-refundable.

    Cancellations made 14 days or more before your party may receive a refund for the remaining balance (minus the $225 deposit), or have the deposit applied to a future party date within six months.

    Cancellations made within 30 days of the event are non-refundable and non-transferable for the full amount.

    We understand that life happens, and we’ll always do our best to work with families whenever possible
