At River & Root, we believe the best classes grow from the community around us.
That means listening to local moms, caregivers, and educators about the kinds of experiences they want for their children, while also partnering with local organizations and experts who are already doing incredible work in our area.
Our class lineup brings together community-created ideas, trusted local partners, and expert-led programming from professionals like occupational therapists, artists, movement instructors, and early childhood educators.
Some classes are designed by local moms with a passion to share. Others are brought to River & Root through partnerships with organizations we love, giving families in Barrington and the surrounding community easier access to high-quality programming close to home.
From art and music to movement, sensory play, milestones, and developmental support, each offering is thoughtfully chosen to bring something meaningful to little ones and the grown-ups raising them.
These aren’t one-size-fits-all programs. They are community-rooted experiences, created with local families in mind and brought to life by the people, partners, and experts who make our community special.

Our events are thoughtfully designed with little ones at the center of every detail.
Each experience is created in collaboration with early childhood educators, ensuring that every activity is developmentally appropriate, engaging, and truly aligned with how young children learn and play.
From seasonal celebrations to themed gatherings, our events are carefully curated to feel calm, meaningful, and just the right amount of magical for children ages 0–4.
We focus on simple, sensory-rich moments, connection, and play, creating experiences that feel special without ever being overwhelming.
