Little Scientists is a playful, hands-on exploration class designed for children ages 1–2 who are beginning to understand how their actions create change. Through simple experiments, sensory activities, and open-ended materials, little learners explore early science concepts in a way that feels engaging, joyful, and developmentally appropriate.

Each session invites children to investigate ideas like cause and effect, sequencing, and problem-solving using their hands and senses. Activities may include pouring and transferring, mixing colors, observing changes, and experimenting with movement and materials. Children practice important fine motor skills such as pinching, squeezing, and pulling while strengthening their ability to focus, repeat actions, and notice outcomes.

Little Scientists emphasizes the process over the product. There is no right or wrong result. Children are encouraged to explore freely, follow their curiosity, and engage at their own pace, whether that means repeating an action again and again or simply observing what happens next.

Stories, songs, movement, and playful Spanish for growing learners

Spanish Little Learners is an interactive Spanish experience designed for toddlers and preschoolers who are ready to move, explore, and engage with language in a playful, hands-on way. This class blends storytelling, music, movement, and simple activities to introduce children to Spanish in a way that feels joyful, natural, and fun.

Led by Ms. Diana, a native Spanish speaker and early childhood educator, each session invites children to listen, repeat, sing, and move as they explore new Spanish words and phrases. Instead of a traditional sit-and-listen storytime, children actively participate in the stories through songs, gestures, and movement, helping language come to life through play and imagination.

Families are encouraged to join in alongside their child, creating shared moments of connection while building early bilingual awareness together. No prior Spanish experience is needed. Just come ready to explore, laugh, and learn together.

Spanish Little Learners gives growing minds the confidence to hear, try, and enjoy Spanish while honoring the way young children learn best: through play, movement, and meaningful connection.

A special open play session reserved just for grandparents and their grandlittles (ages 0–4). Join us for a relaxed morning of connection, play, and community with other grandparents who are spending these sweet early years caring for and making memories with the next generation. Enjoy unhurried play, meaningful conversation, and a cozy space designed just for you and your grandlittle.

Join us for a special themed Family Night at River & Root! This playful evening adds a toddler-friendly bingo twist to your regular open play session, giving families a fun and low-pressure way to learn a classic game together.

During this session, we’ll introduce simple bingo cards, playful guidance, and small prizes designed especially for ages 0–4. It’s a gentle, encouraging way to practice taking turns, listening skills, and celebrating small wins — all while enjoying plenty of open play throughout the evening. You can add-on pizza slices at checkout or once you arrive, and pizza will be delivered mid-session for a quick, easy dinner too. Or bring your own dinner!

This experience is the same price as our regular open play and is included with your 4:30–6:30pm session. During Family Nights, additional adults attend free to make it easier for the whole family to join in. Step into a tiny world of springtime creatures. Using magnifying glasses and curious eyes, children will explore safe, hands-on discovery stations featuring pretend bugs, nature visuals, and playful investigation.

🌱 Spring Garden Sensory Play
Dig, scoop, and explore a garden-themed sensory experience inspired by new growth. This tactile station encourages open-ended play and imaginative exploration.

🌸 Little Bloom Flower Arranging
Practice fine motor skills while designing sweet spring bouquets with colorful flowers. Children will arrange and create their own mini floral masterpiece.

On the third Friday of each month from 9:00–11:00 AM, our Open Play block is reserved just for dads and their little ones (ages 0–4). Created to give dads an easy, welcoming opportunity to meet other dads in the community while their children play, this session is all about connection and meaningful time together.

Due to popular request, we’ll also begin offering select Saturday options (likely the last Saturday of the month) to better accommodate families who prefer weekend hours.

Join us at a time that works best for you, meet other dads, enjoy good conversation, and spend quality time with your little one.
